About Us

Safoa is a group of people who are dedicated to creating safer food and food systems for East Central Africa.

Samuel Clark is one of the founding principals of Safoa.  He was born and grew up in the highlands of NW New Mexico in the United States.  Both of his parents worked in the civil service with the goal of helping the Navajo people do well intellectually and economically.  They taught Agriculture, Science, and Home Economics. Samuel's formative years were filled with living lessons in growing, processing, and preparing food including raising various animals.

In addition to two decades of experience in human service organizations, Samuel has spent the last several years as an officer in a US-based global food safety company.  He brings all that experience and dedication to Safoa's vision of transforming the systems which produce and process quality food for the people of Rwanda and East Central Africa.
